My Artwork

Ever since I remember I have sketched and painted. The margins of textbooks, when I was in school, were always filled with my drawings. I also used to write little books and illustrate them.

Art is a refuge for me. It is a passion, it is my comfort zone, it is where I escape to and it is where I feel at home. At times, when an image comes into my head, it feels as though I will explode, if I do not immediately capture it, create it and give it life. I work in all kinds of media pencils, oils, water colours, pastels and even mixed media. My favourite however remains graphite. Even though it is considered a very difficult medium to work with, I find I have a natural affinity to it.

I am mostly self taught. However in the UK, I got an opportunity to do a formal course in Portraiture. I now hold an internationally recognised qualification in portraiture. currently specialise in pencil portraits.

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever” said Keats. If the thing of beauty happens to be a beautiful portrait of a loved one, then the joy becomes manifold. A portrait of a loved one makes such a unique and a personalised gift. The recipients are always delighted and I feel happy to be a part of someone’s joy. It also becomes an heirloom which can be passed down the generations.

My pencil portraits are entirely hand drawn. Each measurement is taken very painstakingly and I try to create portraits where the subject leaps to life. It takes me more than ten hours to create a single portrait.

I have been undertaking commissions since October 2010.For a good portrait, I need a high resolution photograph. The photographs can be e-mailed to me. To know more about commissions and to read about the story of one of my commissions in India, click  here.
